Retirement Dinner
Master Warrant Officer Fred Rossi CD retires from the Canadian Forces and his last posting as RSS with 15th Field Artillery Regiment RCA. Canadian Uniforms
Interested in changes to Canadian military uniforms over the years? I came across this interesting Parks Canada publication as I was researching for the 25 Pounder detachment uniforms. Drab Serge and Khaki Drill: The Foreign Service, Universal Service, Battle And Combat Dress Jackets of the Canadian Army, 1899-2003. Check it out on our reference page here. A group photo of the 85 Heavy Battery RCA CASF has been added to the 1941 Yearbook. Can you help identify some of the members?
68th Annual Military Ball 2013
The Band of the 15th Field Artillery Regiment RCA provided the main entertainment for this year's 68th Annual Military Ball at the Hyatt Regency in Vancouver. Our concert band performed dinner music and regimentals, with the Tsangtones performing the dance music. Check out the rest of the pictures here. The 25 Pounder Detachment uniforms have arrived? Still short a few items such as rank badges, artillery buttons and black ties. The detachment will be looking sharp when it deploys to various exhibits during the summer.
The amount of new things that you have to learn in order to set up a website. It's also amazing how little I understand. Last night was spent coming up with a new design to highlight key appointments in the Regiment. Yearbooks 1966 to 1969 are the results of about 3 hours work. Unfortunately I checked out the results on a couple of devices this morning and discovered that what may appear lined up on the laptop does not necessarily look okay on the tablet or the phone. Another 3 hours this morning and I came up with the layout in Yearbooks 1960 to 1965. All of this in an attempt to improve on what we have in the 190 Yearbook.
The question for you is: Which do you prefer? Do you have an alternate suggestion? The 1960s are all done! I'm still looking for pictures and stories from throughout that decade. Don't wait until 2020 to send me yours! I also need some information on our Honorary Lieutenant Colonel FB Brown. Does anyone have a bio of the distinguished gentleman? I also realize that I have the Bandmaster incorrect. I'm sure that Al Sweet was not a Warrant officer Class I in 1960. He was probably not the Bandmaster yet. I do have a Warrant Officer Class I JAS Munro listed as the Bandmaster of the 43rd in 1958. Is he the one standing on the left in the band photo?
The 1961 Yearbook collection was so small that it barely took any time to convert the page to the new look. Was there few activities that year? A low level of Militia funding? Cameras were outlawed? Check those albums! I'm sure we at least fired a salute or two. Area Commander's Inspection, Master Gunner visit, Change of Command. Surely there must be more pictures out there..... Check out the 1962 Yearbook and then look at your album to see what we're missing!
