A couple of interesting news articles from several of our early predecessors. The 43rd Anti-Aircraft Regiment postponed one of their Old Boys nights and the Honourary of 15th Field Regiment invited 150 High School students for a barbecue.
The Regiment was in the news a couple of times in 2004. This article will be of interest to those that were on the coastal artillery tour last Saturday. We'll have to work on getting access this summer! (oooohhh, I like the idea of a museum....) This article also shows the difficulty in ascertaining dates. The newspaper was published in 2004 and states that the access was opened in 2003 for the first time since 1963. Our notes in the archives suggested 2005. Check out the cool video that has now been moved to the 2003 page.
The Band was also busy in 2004 with gigs at the racetrack and the Orpheum. The Vancouver Sun reports on the formation of the new unit with a planned strength of 569 men for the newly formed 102nd Coast Regiment RCA.
Faces, faces, faces......The higher resolution photo is now on line on our Birthday Page. Check out the names and faces. So far only 76 of 137 have been identified!
Pick out your face and email me at [email protected] Thanks for the names that have already come in for the group photo. Thank you MBd Starr Switzer for identifying the last 5 members!
Thanks to some band members that popped by during the Centennial Birthday, we now have 8 additional names for the Fortissimo group photo and are only missing 5.. Does anyone have a higher resolution scan? The only copy I have came from the Band Facebook page. Send names and photo to [email protected] Seven more found - 7 to go!
Second Lieutenant Ken Keene picked out another 7! Can you identify any of the last seven from the 2007 photo? Email me at president.vcrgunners.ca Pictures are starting to ll in from our Centennial Birthday Party last night. Check them out on this page! More to follow...Have you got some to add to the collection? [email protected]
